About

Brittany Clifford (b. 1992) is a self-taught abstract artist from Westchester, NY. Following her passion and love for art and design, she attended the Fashion Institute of Technology, studying Fashion Design, and Textile Design. She began painting in hopes of expressing herself, using painting as a direct way of expressing herself.

Brittany loves working on large scale, using watered down acrylics, spray paint, and oil pastel, she is able to create a dream-like, etherial feel to her creations.

“I am on a constant pursuit to say what can not be said by words. I create to be seen, I create to be experienced.” -Brittany Clifford

The art, explained..

My work is driven by purpose, passion and a deep love for creation. My works are full of emotion and depth; taking the viewer on a journey of their very own. My painting process is seemingly chaotic, erratic and fast paced. However, when finished, what emerges from the storm is full of life, light and a visual calmness.

My main influences are past experiences, mixed with current emotions. I paint because there is no other way for me to articulate them. I often refer to my paintings as my stories or songs. I will never be able to find the words to describe how I am feeling, therefore I paint them.

The colors seen in my paintings are purposeful, and always come from some kind of visual inspiration. At times viewers will notice that my work has a heaviness in depth, while remaining soft and feminine. Music is also a main influence in my work, and often times will depict the feeling of how my painting is viewed. I refer to this as, in-between chaos and calm.
